Age Verification Without Surveillance
New laws require age checks on more sites every year. Most solutions force you to upload your ID everywhere you go. We built something different.
In 2023, Louisiana became the first US state to require age verification for adult websites. By 2026, over 20 states have passed similar laws. The UK's Online Safety Act and the EU's Digital Services Act impose their own age-gating requirements. The trend is clear: if your site hosts age-restricted content, you need to verify that visitors are 18+.
The problem isn't the goal — keeping minors away from adult content is reasonable. The problem is how it's being implemented.
The ID-upload model is broken
Most age verification solutions work the same way: upload a photo of your government ID, sometimes take a selfie, and the service checks that you're 18+. You do this on every site, every time. Your driver's license photo, your full legal name, your date of birth, and your address end up in databases controlled by dozens of different companies.
The privacy implications are severe. You're creating a permanent record that ties your real identity to every adult site you visit. If any of those databases get breached — and data breaches happen constantly — your browsing habits become public knowledge. This isn't hypothetical. It's the inevitable consequence of centralizing sensitive identity data across hundreds of services.
Verify once, prove it everywhere
Prilana Pay takes a fundamentally different approach. You verify your age once, through a 30-second selfie check powered by our verification partner. The check confirms you're 18+ and issues a cryptographic credential — stored as a Program Derived Address (PDA) on Solana, tied to your wallet.
That credential works on every site in the Prilana network. When you visit a new site and connect your wallet, the site checks the on-chain PDA. If the credential exists and is valid, you're in. No second upload. No re-verification. No new database entry.
What the merchant sees
Merchant sites never see your ID. They never see your name, your date of birth, or your photo. They see exactly one thing: a boolean. Is this wallet age-verified? Yes or no. That's the only information that crosses the boundary between the verification system and the merchant.
This is a critical distinction. Traditional age verification gives merchants access to your identity. Prilana's model gives merchants access to a fact about your wallet — that it belongs to someone who is 18+ — without revealing who that someone is.
What Prilana sees
The verification itself is handled by a third-party partner using facial age estimation. Prilana Pay receives a pass/fail result and writes the credential on-chain. We never see, store, or have access to your ID documents or biometric data. The verification partner processes the check and discards the data per their retention policy.
On-chain, not in a database
Your verification credential lives on the Solana blockchain as a PDA, not in a corporate database. There's no central server to breach. There's no employee who can look up your record. The credential is controlled by the smart contract and tied to your wallet — only you can present it, and only sites using Prilana Pay can check it.
Compliance without compromise
Prilana's verification model satisfies age-gating requirements across US state laws, the UK Online Safety Act, and the EU Digital Services Act. Merchants who integrate Prilana Pay are compliant by default — they don't need to build their own verification flow, contract with a separate provider, or store any identity data. The verification is built into the payment layer.
The cost is $1, one time. That's it. No monthly fees, no per-site charges, no subscription. Verify once and your credential works everywhere in the network. Early adopters also receive 10,000 $PRLN as a bonus for being first.
